Vivian Tanner, LGPC
Hi, I'm Vivian Tanner, LGPC, a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Washington, D.C. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults from all walks of life, and I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves.
My background is a little unique. I grew up in Europe, come from a military background, and eventually found my way into the mental health and wellness field. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addiction Treatment and Recovery, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I’ve also completed Health and Wellness Coaching training through Georgetown University. My education and life experiences have shaped how I connect with others and deepened my appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, identities, and life experiences.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I don’t believe therapy should feel like you’re being analyzed from across the room. I want our sessions to be a space where you can be honest, ask questions, laugh when it feels right, work through the hard stuff, and learn more about yourself along the way. I’ll meet you where you are while also gently challenging you when I believe it can help you grow. Whether you’re dealing with something specific or simply know you want life to feel different, we can work together to figure out what that looks like for you.
