Nicole Welds, LICSW, LCSW-C

Hi, I’m Nicole. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington, D.C., and a Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical in Maryland, with more than fifteen years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through emotional, relational, and identity-related challenges. Over the years I’ve worked across housing programs, developmental disability services, community support, and outpatient mental health, which has taught me how unique each person’s story is and how important it is to be met with understanding rather than assumptions.

My therapeutic style is warm, genuine, and deeply person-centered. I work collaboratively, focusing on your strengths while helping you understand the patterns, emotions, and beliefs shaping your current experience. I integrate mindfulness, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused work, and holistic practices that honor the connection between mind, body, identity, and lived experience. Clients often describe therapy with me as grounding and liberating, with equal space for practical tools and meaningful insight.

I have extensive experience supporting clients navigating sexuality and gender exploration, LGBTQ+ identity, women’s issues, immigration-related stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and the emotional weight of carrying multiple marginalized identities. I approach this work with cultural humility and a deep respect for the resilience and nuance within every client’s journey.

If you’re seeking a therapist who understands the complexity of identity and offers both compassion and clear guidance, I’m here to support you as you create the life and relationships you want.
