Lucas Monaco, LGPC

Hi, I’m Lucas. I am a licensed therapist in Washington, D.C., and for more than ten years I have supported adults of all ages, from young adults navigating new independence to older adults facing shifting roles, health changes, and later-life transitions. I have extensive experience in anxiety, depression, grief, and substance use disorders, and I understand how overwhelming daily life can feel when emotions are unpredictable or when long-standing habits feel difficult to break. My goal is to create a space where you feel grounded, understood, and supported as you move through these challenges.

I bring a style that blends compassion with practical, actionable tools. Whether you’re working through anxiety, rebuilding life after loss, or addressing patterns related to substance use, therapy with me is both reflective and solution-focused. Together, we make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface while building strategies you can use right away to feel more balanced and in control.

My work draws from CBT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centered techniques. I tailor these approaches to your needs so that each session feels meaningful, relevant, and aligned with the future you want to create, no matter what stage of life you’re in.

If you’re looking for a therapist who brings steadiness, clarity, and practical support, especially around anxiety, substance use, or life transitions, I would welcome the opportunity to work together.
