Florian Portis, LICSW, LCSW-C
Hi, I’m Florian. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington, D.C., and a Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical in Maryland, with more than twenty years of experience supporting individuals through emotional challenges, life transitions, and personal growth. My career has included work in child welfare, school systems, outpatient mental health, and serving as a Clinical Director for a Department of Behavioral Health–certified clinic. These experiences have shaped my belief that therapy should help you understand yourself more deeply while also building the tools to move your life forward.
My therapeutic style is direct, thoughtful, and grounded in partnership. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to help you examine belief systems, understand the origins of emotional patterns, and identify changes that support the life you want to create. Clients often describe my approach as steady and clarifying, with a balance of compassion and practical insight. I enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem, entrepreneurship, and major life transitions, especially those who are seeking not only relief but transformation.
In my work, I value honesty, collaboration, and the courage it takes to examine the stories we tell ourselves. Whether you’re reassessing your goals, navigating a challenging season, or building confidence in a new chapter, we work together to create meaningful, lasting change.
If you’re looking for a therapist who brings experience, clarity, and a results-oriented approach to personal growth, I’m here to help you move toward the life you envision.
