Easwari Amirthanayagam, LGSW
Easwari is a second generation American of Sri Lankan Tamil descent. She received her BA in Sociology from Brown and her Masters of Social Work from Columbia. She chose social work specifically because of its focus on the individual and on the structures at play that deeply affect the individual. She is interested in the notion of belonging and displacement in our society. Her practice is trauma-focused and compassion driven. She utilizes an intersectional lens with regards to identity and is passionate about creating greater accessibility of services for marginalized populations. Easwari uses a client-centered approach, tailoring treatment to the specific needs of each client. Some of the therapy practices she has expertise in include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Inner Child Work, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.
