Florian Portis, LICSW

Florian received her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh.  She has worked for 15+ years in the child welfare, school and outpatient mental health settings.  She was also the Clinical Director of an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, certified by the DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). 

Her areas of interest and expertise include relationship issues, depression, grief and loss, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, and life transitions.  She has extensive training and experience in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. 
Using the client/therapist relationship based on trust and understanding, she helps her clients examine their belief systems and the origins of these beliefs to determine what changes can be made to resolve conflicts in their lives.

Abigail Hill, LICSW

Abigail received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania and has practiced as a social worker in various settings including a medical hospital, schools and rape crisis centers.  She received her certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work.

Her areas of interest and specialization include postpartum depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, trauma, domestic violence and parenting.  Abigail offers a welcoming space where her clients can discuss emotions that may feel overwhelming, burdensome, or shameful.

Candice Williams, MA, NCC, LPC

Candice is a Licensed Professional Counselor and mental health advocate. A native of Texas, Candice earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and holds a Masters of Arts degree in Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently a doctoral student pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University; Candice is formally trained and certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and holds a provisional certification as an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer through LivingWorks Education.

 

A mental health enthusiast, Candice’s clinical experience includes providing psychotherapy to children and adults in the areas of childhood trauma, PTSD, crisis intervention, career counseling, depression, and anxiety in the forms of individual and group counseling.  Additionally, Candice’s professional experience extends to providing clinical case management to former professional athletes as well as multicultural issues in counseling concerning the mental health and wellbeing of youth and college athletes.

 

Candice believes that counseling is a collaborative process which involves building a supportive, trusting therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist to create a therapeutic plan that best matches their individual needs, goals and strengths. Candice’s treatment orientation include but are not limited to: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Expressive and Creative Arts Methods for Trauma Survivors.
